BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Jimmy Rose will take the stage one more time for NBC's America's Got Talent, but his parents will be watching here at home.
WYMT's Angela Sparkman talked to them about Rose and his mother's illness.
Larry and Virginia Middleton followed their son Jimmy Rose's music long before he got on America's Got Talent.
"We're very proud of him. You don't know how much. I'm trying not to cry," said Virginia Middleton, Rose's mother.
They are excited to see Rose sing on the national stage again but will watch at home.
"The reason I didn't go tonight is because I've been very sick," said Middleton.
She says she needs hip surgery and has congestive failure and other health problems, so could not go to New York City.
"We were going to sneak up there and surprise him and be in the audience but I just couldn't make it," she said.
Jimmy Rose talked about his mother on Brian O'Brien's morning radio show on The Big One 106.3 FM.
"I'm a momma's boy all my life," Rose said on the radio. "You only got one mommy and she has been sick, but anytime you talk about that it pulls my strings, but it's just the realness," he said.
"He'll always be my baby at heart and I love him," Middleton said.
While Rose's parents are disappointed they could not make it to New York City this week, they say they have plenty of support here at home. They plan to watch the show on television with other relatives and close friends.
"I'll be right there watching and rooting him on all the way," Middleton said.
Larry and Virginia Middleton say they are proud of him win or lose.
