A Bell County man is indicted after police say he set a house on fire with a woman inside.

Jonathan Brock Stansbury of Middlesboro is charged with attempted murder and arson.

Police say on February 4th, a Saturday morning, Clorah Falconer's was asleep in her home when flames started.

She escaped without injury but her three birds died.

Investigators now believe Stansbury intentionally set the fire.

“From observations they made on the character of the fire and some of the things in the house, that's when we broadened the investigation centering on Mr. Stansbury,” Middlesboro Police Chief Jeffrey Sharpe said.

Stansbury is out of jail on bond.

Police say he knew Falconer, but investigators will not release any details on a possible motive for the fire.
