MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WYMT) - The search is over for a Michigan man wanted on kidnapping charges in Bell County.

Middlesboro Police found 46-year-old Jerry Lee Oliver hiding out at a home in Bell County not far from a Group Home full of children.

Middlesboro Police searched for Jerry Lee Oliver for the past nine months.

"He'd used weapons in the past. He was considered violent and dangerous," said Lt. Tom Busic.

Police say in April of last year, the Detroit man and a woman went to a Middlesboro home and took a 13-year-old boy.

In July, a grand jury indicted Oliver on a kidnapping charge with the intent to inflict bodily injury or terrorize. Police searched to arrest Oliver could not find him.

Monday night, a tip led them to a home on Greenwood Road where police arrested him outside in the driveway.

Police arrested Oliver just down the street from a Children's Group Home.

"It's a little shocking, especially with what we do here at this site and there are other kids here in the area here also, so your biggest concern is for the children and then obviously your own personal safety," said Kevin Gordon, Bell County Constable who works at the Middlesboro Group Home.

Police say at his arrest, Oliver had 86 pills, two bags of marijuana, and $1,305 cash.

Police believe Oliver was dealing drugs in the area.

In addition to kidnapping, Oliver is charged with drug possession and trafficking. He is also wanted in Michigan for a parole violation. Michigan authorities told police they plan to extradite him to face charges there.

"We're pleased for being able to clear out the warrant. We're pleased to be able to process him through the court system. We're pleased to take another dealer off the streets," said Lt. Busic. "Anytime there's somebody loose in the community we have concerns about him and that's why we do our best to when someone like that is loose, we do our best to keep them locked up."

Oliver declined our interview request. He is being held in the Bell County Detention Center on no bond.
