Memorial for LMU professor killed in crash

HARROGATE, Tenn. (WYMT) - Lincoln Memorial University students and staff held a memorial service Thursday morning for Dr. Neal Cross.

The anatomy professor died in a motorcycle crash in Bell County last weekend.

Hundreds attended the service outside the school's medical school building.

His daughters and co-workers shared stories and said Dr. Cross loved teaching and living in the mountains.

"He was a professor who walked into the anatomy lab and everyone was looking for him to walk by and show them something new, teach them something new," said Jaclyn Urquiola, medical student.

"He's been an inspiration to me. He's really made me passionate about anatomy," said Robert Heilig, medical student.

"It has been wonderful to see the impact he has made in both DCOM and the community," his daughter Heather Kaiser said during the service.

LMU leaders announced they are naming the new anatomy lab after Dr. Cross.
