MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WYMT) - A Middlesboro food pantry in need of items now has more than three thousand cans of food.
The Cooperative Christian Ministry food pantry was nearly empty in January due to low donations and more people needing help.
Since our news story aired, churches, businesses, organizations, and LMU students held fundraisers and collected donations.
Food pantry directors say the shelves are overflowing now.
"It feels really good. It makes it easier on me to come to work and knowing I've got food to give out to the community and people that needs it," said Ashley Skidmore, Food Pantry Coordinator.
Organizers say they still need hygiene items and paper products.
