PINEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Folks in one section of Bell County are on high alert!

Three suspicious fires on Park Avenue in Pineville prompted a group of people to begin a Neighborhood Watch program.

Folks now say they are scared of what may happen once they go to bed.

Stephanie Cloud says she and her family were asleep at her mom's house one night in December when a vehicle caught fire.

"There was four lives that could've been lost because it was starting to melt, bust out the windows and things like that," said Cloud.

The fire destroyed the vehicle and the heat broke windows on the home.

Another fire on another night burned the next-door neighbor's vehicle.

A third fire this month burned the Burger Hut down the road.

The Pineville Fire Chief turned the investigations over to the KSP Arson Investigator.

Now neighbors on Park Avenue are worried about what could happen next.

"Thinking that someone is going to come back and set the house on fire or the vehicle, or just any type of fire," said Cloud.

Carol Mays even set up surveillance cameras at her home.

"Very scared. It's starting to toll on my health because I sit up all hours of the night constantly watching," said Mays.

Mays is offering a $500 reward from her own money for information that leads to an arrest.

"I would offer the reward not only to catch the person that's out doing this to people, but just so I can have peace of mind and be able to sleep in peace," said Mays.

They are also organizing a neighborhood watch.

"Because when you're dealing with fire, you're dealing with life, you know," said Cloud.

They hope their efforts will end the suspicious fires.

Anyone with any information on any of the fires should call the Arson Investigator at the Kentucky State Police Post in Harlan.
