BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Officials hoping to promote healthy living opened a new walking trail to the public in Bell County! The new public trail is behind the Bell Central School.
Spread the Health Appalachia, the Bell County school system and the fiscal court partnered to open the trail to the public.
It is open to the public Monday through Saturday during the evening from 4:00pm-6:00pm.
Organizers hope it will help curb diabetes, obesity, and other health problems in the county.
"If you walk 20 minutes a day, especially in a mountainous terrain or you walk briskly, you can lower your blood pressure. I've seen it lower 10-12 points before," said Leigh Ann Baker with Spread the Health Appalachia.
The next phase of the project is to open a new walking track in Bell County at the Bell Central School.
