PINEVILLE/WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Officials say this appears to be the last week for LIHEAP at the Bell-Whitley Community Action Agency.

Officials say the program has helped 1,800 people in Bell and Whitley Counties.

They have spent $800,000 in heating assistance, and directors say the program is winding down this week.

Directors say this is earlier than normal because demand was higher this year.

“We've seen a great need this year with so many layoffs in the area, with a lot of the mines shutting down and people laid off just from different jobs, the need has been greater this year,” LIHEAP Director Sandy Hoskins said.

Directors say anyone in Bell or Whitley Counties, who still needs LIHEAP, can call the community action agency office and they will try to help.
