MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WYMT) - Police say a Christmas grinch hit some Middlesboro parking lots.
Police arrested a man they say broke into cars at several places and stole Christmas gifts and other items.
Natasha Marcum was shopping at the Middlesboro Mall, and when she got back to her car, a window was broken and her five year old son's Christmas present was missing.
"I was furious, hysterical, and it just made me mad because I went to Black Friday for that bicycle you know, I went through lines and was there for hours. It just broke my heart," Marcum said.
She was not the only victim. Middlesboro Police say several cars had smashed windows and items stolen in parking lots at the Mall, Wal-mart, and Days Inn.
"That's the sad part of the Christmas season is it brings people out that will do this," said Lt. David Buis.
Police say 27 year old Brandon Foster is the thief. Police say he was caught in the act at Wal-mart on Wednesday.
"We received another call from a retired police officer from Middlesboro who had witnessed him getting into the back of the vehicles in Wal-mart," said Lt. Buis.
Police do not know a motive for the break-ins, and say Foster denies he is the thief. Police say he told them he is innocent.
Investigators say they found some of the stolen items in Foster's car, including Marcum's bicycle.
"When they called and said come identify your bicycle, that's all I wanted was the bicycle. I was tickled," said Marcum.
She says her son will have a Merry Christmas after all.
Foster is facing ten charges including receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, and drug possession.
