Middlesboro Police say the First State Financial Bank on 25E was robbed on Friday afternoon. Police arrested Gregory Jackson, 30, of Manchester.

Middlesboro police say at 1:55 p.m. a man came into the bank and handed a note to the teller saying he had a gun and wanted money. Police say the man then reached across the counter, grabbed cash, then ran out of the bank and got into a blue Ford pick-up truck.

At 2:50 p.m., police say they found the suspect on Highway 25E on the outskirts of town headed towards Pineville. They took the driver into custody. Police identify him as Gregory Jackson.

Jackson was taken to the Middlesboro Police Department for questioning. Middlesboro Police Chief Jeffrey Sharpe says they plan to file charges.

Chief Sharpe says it appears the suspect did not have a weapon although the robber said in his note he had a gun.

No one was injured during the alleged robbery.

Police are still determining how much money was stolen from the bank.

First State Financial employees confirmed to WYMT they were robbed but would not comment further.
