Search continues for missing Bell County teen

PINEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Police are still searching for a missing Bell County teenager.

Family members say 14-year old Madison York left school on Wednesday and was last seen getting into a van at her home.

Investigators say a van possibly connected to the case has shown up on surveillance video in Middlesboro going towards Tennessee.

Kathy York has not seen her daughter Madison in more than 24 hours.

"I just want her home so bad. We just miss her so bad," said Kathy York.

She last saw Madison around 9:15 Wednesday morning at Page School, where Madison is a student and Kathy works.
She saw her by the cafeteria.

"We just ran into each other. I talked to her for a minute. She seemed fine," Kathy York said.

That was the last time she saw her daughter. Teachers say Madison never returned to class and officials believe she walked away from school. Kathy York says at 12:30 p.m., a neighbor called her husband and said a van with Connecticut plates was in their driveway with a Hispanic man and teenage boy. The neighbor says Madison walked up the road and got into the van and left with them.

"Said she hugged the boy, did act like she knew them, and she did go willingly," said Kathy York.

But the York family does not know who they were, nor why Madison left school to be with them.

"She has never done anything like this. She had an event coming up next week that she was really excited about in school. She has just never given any trouble whatsoever," Kathy York said.

"It's what scares us. We don't know where she is or who she's with," said Sheriff Bruce Bennett.

The Sheriff says surveillance video shows a van matching the description go through the Cumberland Gap Tunnel towards Tennessee on Wednesday around noon. Sheriff Bennett does not know if it is the same van with the girl, but says they are following all leads. The Sheriff says they are also investigating all tips in Bell County.

The family is begging for anyone who saw Madison or knows why she left to tell authorities.

"I just want to put my arms around her, and tell her I love her," said Kathy York.

The van is described as a 1985 to 1990 brown Chevy Conversion van with a Connecticut license plate. It has a metal tire holder and ladder on the back.

The driver was a Hispanic man around 55 years old with gray hair and a blue baseball cap.

Anyone with information should call the Bell County Sheriff's Department at 606-337-3102 or Bell County Dispatch at 606-337-6174.
