Body found near the Clay-Leslie County line identified

GILBERT'S CREEK, Ky. (WYMT) - The missing man found dead earlier this week near Clay-Leslie County line has now been identified.

The Leslie County coroner tells Mountain News the victim is 49 year Earl Smith.

Crews were already searching the area for Smith, who went missing while ATV riding on Saturday.

GILBERT'S CREEK, Ky. (WYMT) - We could soon know the identity of a man found dead earlier this week near Clay-Leslie County line.

Crews found the body pinned underneath a four wheeler around 6:30 Monday night in the Gilberts Creek area.

Leslie County deputy coroner Jimmy Couch tells Mountain News the victim is a 49 year old man, but did not release his name, pending the notification of next of kin.

Crews were already searching the area for 49 year old Earl Smith, who went missing while ATV riding on Saturday.

The coroner tells us he hopes to release the identity of the body Tuesday morning.
