HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - UPDATE:
The Hal Rogers Parkway between Manchester and London is back open. It is also back open at Exit 39 in Leslie County.
Some freezing rain on the morning commute is being blamed for hundreds of crashes across the area, slowing down traffic and shutting down roads.
Here are the latest major crashes/road shutdowns that we know about:
The Hal Rogers Parkway is shut down in both directions between Manchester and London. The parkway is also shut down at Exit 39 in Leslie County due to a crash involving several cars.
Dispatchers tell us the Mountain Parkway is shut down in Wolfe County at mile marker 46 due to icy conditions.
The Manchester Fire Department is reporting a crash involving an ambulance and a salt truck on Hal Rogers Parkway near Manchester. No injuries reported.
There are reports of up to 30 cars involved in crashes near the Knott/Floyd County line on Highway 80. So far, no injuries have been reported.
Roads closed in the Big Sandy: Highway 321 in Prestonsburg and Highway 40 east (The Narrows) in Johnson County.
In Floyd County, officials report the ramp off US 23 onto 114 is not officially closed but cars are sliding into the ditches right off it.
In Pike County, Chloe Road in Pikeville is the worst in that area, but road is still open.
Icy roads and wrecks are being reported in almost every county in the mountains. Police advise people to stay off of the roads as much as possible.
