Danville Police say Ronald Hawkins II confessed to stealing from seven homes within just a few blocks of his own house. Police say he hit a south Danville neighborhood seven times in just three weeks.
"I've lived here 34 years and I've never had a problem whatsoever," says neighbor Bobby Hinkle.
"It kinda startled me a little bit. It was very unexpected in this area. The south end of town is usually quiet and a good neighborhood. We live close to the shopping center and all the businesses in this area. It's a good area to live in."
Assistant Chief Tony Gray says they pinned Hawkins to the burglaries because - besides their proximity - there were several similarities.
"The doors were kicked in. A lot of times he went through an open window. The main thing was jewelry was taken and most of them were done during the day time," says Asst. Chief Gray.
Police estimate the gold jewelry stolen from those homes is worth several thousand dollars.
