Just after 8 o’clock Thursday night Hustonville Mayor Cecil Maddox was called about a woman getting hurt at the Hustonville Haunted House. “I got a phone call that the there had been an accident..some lady had fallen out of a window,” he said.
According to the incident detail from Bluegrass 911, emergency services were called after a 51-year old woman fell two stories onto the steps below. She complained of lower back and hip pain.
Maddox says he went to the haunted house hoping to get some information but when he asked an employee about the woman’s welfare he says he didn't get a friendly response. “He said, and spoke out real loud, ‘we’re not allowed to give out that information, that’s confidential, and you need to get your “blank” out of here,’” said Maddox.
Maddox says he took that as a threat. “When you’re in an alley (and there’s) 3 or 4 of them you probably need to,” Maddox said.
Maddox says the Haunted House owner later apologized to him for the employee’s actions but he says he simply wanted to know how the victim was doing. “People are going to ask me here in the city ’how is she?’, whatever, I’m very concerned about her. I hate to say, ‘I don’t know, I don’t care, because I do care,” he said.
The victim was treated and released from Danville’s Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. The owner of the Haunted House said he did not wish to give out any information about what happened. The victim also didn’t want to comment about the accident.
