The outlook was dire for the Pioneer Playhouse less than a week ago when torrential rain fell on central Kentucky causing widespread flooding.
More than three feet of water filled the playhouse's theater and backstage area. Theater owners scrambled to save valuable costumes and props.
Fortunately, they saved most of the items but still had a big mess on their hands.
Following a call to the community for help via the internet, dozens of people showed up at the playhouse Saturday ready to work.
Thanks to their efforts, theater directors say they are now ahead of schedule in terms of being ready for the summer season.
The season begins on June 11th.
