Police are looking for the man who robbed a business with a gun and a knife and left the clerk bound in a bathroom. It happened at the Cash Advance store on Hustonville Road in Danville. Another worker found the woman just before noon Tuesday. Now nearby workers are on edge.
After an armed robber assaulted the Cash Advance clerk, that clerk wasn't the only one scared by the attack. Vicky Durkin operates a hearing center next door to Cash Advance. The robbery is just the latest in a string of thefts affecting area businesses including hers.
Just a few days ago burglars broke in through this window and made off with some petty cash, and as more crimes in the area keep coming, business owners have to do what they can to protect themselves. "Today I am taking all of my computers out, which contain my patient data, and all of their programming data for their hearing aids, so I'm taking all of that out and taking it home," Durkin said.
Employees of a nearby Sleep Outfitters didn't want to go on camera, but they say an armed robbery there Friday night has a lot of people nervous. Danville Police are looking closely for any connection between the crimes. "Just to see if there's any correlation," Danville Assistant Police Chief Anthony Gray said, "At this time we can't say there is, and we can't say there isn't."
Police have released a detailed description of the Cash Advance suspect. He's a white man in his mid-thirties. He's about six feet tall and missing teeth from the top front row. He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, cut-off blue jean shorts, and faded brown boots. The man had scruffy facial hair and buzzed, light-colored hair.
