Danville Police searching for sexual assault suspect

DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Danville Police need your help in tracking down a man responsible for sexually assaulting a woman.

It happened Thursday afternoon on Popplewell Lane in Danville.

Police tell us a 47-year-old woman was assaulted after she got a ride from a man she didn't know. The man was reportedly supposed to drop her off at Walmart but kept driving. Police say he left her stranded on Popplewell Lane.

We talked with a man living on that road who says he found the woman sitting on the side of the road after she was sexually assaulted. He did not want to be identified but did talk with us about how odd it is that it happened on a street that is not well-known.

"Very odd, very strange especially on this road. There's a sign that's private, guest only. And it was very strange," said the man. "It's horrible. It's one of the worst crimes that I feel like could be committed."

The suspect is described as a white man, in his 40s or early 50s, wearing blue jeans, a brown coat, and a brown baseball cap. He is said to have a medium build, brown eyes, and gaps between his top teeth. The suspect was last seen in a bluish-green newer model single cab pick-up truck with a white stripe.

Danville Police are patrolling that area, still searching for the suspect and need the public's help.
