A spokesman for Danville Police said Chase and Connor Padgett, both seven, remain in critical condition Wednesday morning at UK Hospital. Their infant sister, Madelyn Oblisk, and the children's mother, Stefanie Padgett, 38, were both listed in fair condition at UK.

Tuesday afternoon, 7-year-old McKenna Grace Padgett died after a bad crash that morning. Danville Police say Stefanie was driving east on KY 34 with her four children in the van, when she lost control and crossed the center line. Her van nearly hit head-on with a second van traveling west.

The impact sent both vehicles into a nearby ditch. Stefanie, her 7-year-old triplets (McKenna, Chase & Connor) and an infant (Madelyn) were all flown to UK Hospital.

The driver of the second van was driven by Philip Belcher, 59. Police say Belcher suffered only minor injuries, but was later taken to a Danville Hospital as a precaution.

Friends and neighbor's say the news was almost too much to bare.

"It's just so shocking, they are such a beautiful family, you couldn't ask for better neighbor's," said Deb Paul.

Paul is a longtime neighbor and friend of the Padgett's.

"Stefanie is such a wonderful mother, and those kids are so well mannered. To think McKenna is gone, I just can't imagine what Stefanie is going through," she said.

Her husband, Jim Paul, informed Deb of the news. He says, it hit him like a truck.

"It's just so awful. I don't have any kids, they're my family," said Jim.

Jim tells 27 NEWSFIRST Connor has undergone multiple surgeries. His brother, Chase, according to family members is on life-support.
