Police: Mother made meth in home with children around

A mother faces charges after police say they found her passed out in a home, along with what they say was a meth lab.

Police in Boyle County say they also discovered April Raines' two-year-old child naked, and near the meth lab.

Officers went to Raines' home after her other son went to a neighbors home to get help for his mother.

The neighbor, Lowell Turner, says he received a knock on the door around 7 p.m. Wednesday to find a 9-year-old boy with a flashlight.

He told Turner there was no heat on inside the house, and that he couldn't wake up his mother.

Turner says he immediately called for help, "I couldn't go down there myself. I've got asthma pretty bad. So I called 911."

When the Boyle County Sheriff's Office arrived at Raines' home, they say they found a 2-year-old girl without any clothes on unattended, while her mother was passed out. Police say they also found meth labs inside.

"It knocked me down just about, said they found meth. I thought oh Lord no. I thought she might have had a heart attack," Turner said.

Raines was arrested at the scene, but police say her boyfriend Michael Ramsey remains at large. He has several warrants pending in reference to this case.

"If that was going on...I am glad it's over. If I had known that was going on, I would have called anyway...if I knew something was going on down there like that. I said be sure no drugs," adds Turner.

Both children are now in the custody of social services.

If you have any information on where Michael Ramsay might be, you are asked to contact the Boyle County Sheriff's Office or your local law enforcement agency.
