Police investigating string of thefts from vehicles

An investigation is underway into a series of thefts from unlocked vehicles around Danville early Monday morning.

Danville Police say they were called to Timothy Avenue around 12:15 a.m. after getting a report about an intruder inside a vehicle.

The owner of the car had chased after the intruder, but that person got away.

Police say a GPS was taken from that car. The suspect is a white man, around six feet tall, with facial hair. He was wearing a brown Carhart type jacket.

Police later discovered an organizer nearby. Police called the owner of that organizer, whose car had been rummaged through on Mark Avenue.

Police say only the organizer and some paperwork were taken from that car.

Police say later in the night, they received three more reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles.

Investigators say a purse was taken from a vehicle on Ridgeway Drive, a GPS was taken from a vehicle on Plainview, and another GPS was taken from a vehicle on Hill N Dale.

Police think all of these thefts may be related.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call Danville Police at 859-238-1224.
