State to sell property parcels at school for deaf

The state plans to sell three parcels of surplus property at the Kentucky School for the Deaf.

The Advocate-Messenger reports the Surplus Property Division of the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet began advertising last week for sealed bids on the pieces of property in Danville. Two are empty pieces of land while the third has a two-story house.

Enrollment at the school has dwindled in recent years, leading to discussions about selling or repurposing portions of the 170-acre campus.

Department of Education spokeswoman Lisa Gross said there are no immediate plans to surplus more lots at the school, but the option remains open.
