DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Megan Whitley saw a bunch of Danville police cars swarm to the front of her house just before 1 o’clock Tuesday morning.
“It scared us last night. We were all in there sleeping,” said the North 6th Street resident.
Yet the commotion outside was hardly anything they could sleep through.
“I was scared because there was a guy walking outside with a gun,” she said.
The victim told police that a guy with a gun got into her car and demanded her stuff. Whitley says that's when she saw the woman escape.
“She got up, she put her hands like this, like she was being robbed, and she backed away and ran down there,” she said.
Police say the victim called 911 as she was running away.
“I’m by comp care. And I’m running toward the street,” the woman is heard in the 911 recording.
Cleary upset and out of breath the caller tells the dispatcher what happened.
Caller: “A man jumped in my car. With a shotgun.”
Dispatcher: “Where, where are you running to ma’am?”
Caller: “I don’t know…..help me!”
Dispatcher: "Which way are you going?"
Police say the woman claimed that she did not know the robber and only described him as dressed in all black clothing, including a hoodie and a scarf.She was found near the intersection of 5th Street and West Lexington Avenue.
