1pm Saturday update:
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) - Police tell Mountain News they arrested David Slone in Lexington about 8:30 Saturday morning.
We are told he had stolen a car after escaping from the jail and made his way north.
Slone is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - A Floyd County inmate went to court
for a hearing but never made it back to jail.
Officials say they are not exactly sure how alleged rapist David Slone escaped from the courthouse. He is now on the run and considered dangerous.
Officials say Slone was scheduled for a hearing Thursday on rape charges. They say somewhere along the line there was a mix-up. Slone was overlooked and went missing.
"We put him in a side room for his lawyer to interview him and stuff. Then when his lawyer got done, somehow or another the bailiff wasn't notified," said Deputy Clayton Teel.
Slone was never taken back to the holding cell with the other inmates to await his hearing, and officials say he never made it back to the jail. They speculate he may have hid somewhere in the courthouse until everyone left.
"When our prisoners were took back he wasn't," said Teel.
Jail officials realized he was missing when they did their nightly head count. They notified the sheriff's department just after midnight and have been searching ever since.
Officials say Slone was last seen wearing blue coveralls, a tan jacket, and brown shoes. He is about 5'8" and 160 pounds with scars on his chest, a skull tattoo on his right arm, and a dagger tattoo on his left leg.
He is facing charges for rape and persistent felony offender.
Officials say Slone should be considered dangerous. Anyone with information about him should contact the Floyd County Sheriff's Office at (606) 886-6171.
