PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Several houseboats that typically don't leave the dock, floated through Dewey Lake on Saturday as part of the annual boat parade.
Participants say the event started about 15 years ago and has really become a Fourth of July weekend tradition for the community.
Janette Jude says, "It started out as two or three boats and it has just expanded. We had seen a boat parade in a magazine and thought it would be neat. so one year we passed out flyers. Everyone enjoys it and it brings a sense of community to the dock."
They have also added activities including a canoe race and cornhole tournament
