UPDATE 4/2/13

BETSY LAYNE, Ky. (WYMT) - Police are still searching for a suspect in a weekend robbery in Floyd County.

Mountain News previously reported a woman robbed the Velocity Market in Betsy Layne Saturday night.

She is believed to be about five feet tall. She was wearing a tan jacket and black pants.

Newly released surveillance video shows her enter the store heading straight for the cashier on duty.

"I looked up and I seen money all over the counter and a lady holding a knife directly at the cashier," said Velocity Manager Teresa Friend.

The video shows the robber pull what looks like a knife, demanding cash from the register.

"She was scared of course but she cooperated. She opened the drawer and gave her the money. The lady got it and left," said Friend.

Friend says the whole thing only took about 41 seconds, and after the robber left they shut down the store and called police.

"It happens so fast you don't have time to think. You just react," said Friend.

The incident put many nearby businesses on alert, like J&J Liquors just across the street.

"We were still open even though they were closed, and when we heard that they hadn't caught the person yet we were weary to say the least," said J&J Liquors Manager Ruth Judd.

They say it seems to be a never ending problem.

"All the businesses are nervous over it because there's been so many robberies in this area in the last couple of years anyway," said Judd.

They all agree on one thing.

"We're just happy no one was hurt," said Friend.

They hope the culprit is caught so they can rest a little easier.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call Kentucky State Police.
