Floyd County family says thieves stole their property and sense of security

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Losing their sense of security. A Floyd County family says thieves stole more than just some of their property.

Living in a quiet community in the Bull Creek area of Floyd County, the Patrick family says they were in disbelief when they became the victims of theft Monday afternoon.

Tonya Patrick says, "My husband had just went out for a couple of hours and when he got home it was gone."

It is an $1,100 trailer the family bought back in 2011. "Black railings, black 4 foot mesh gate, wood flooring which we painted picnic table red," describes Patrick.

The trailer snatched away by what the family calls, 'brave thieves' working in broad daylight...but caught on camera hauling it away.

The family says their trailer was sitting right next to their home and storage building when the thieves came. The family was not home at the time and say the thieves got away with their trailer within minutes.

A red Ford pick up truck seen driving to the home at 2:36 p.m. then six minutes later it is seen driving away with the trailer in tow.

"Not only did they steal our utility trailer that we worked and saved for but they also stole our ability to feel safe and secure in our own home," explains Patrick.

Patrick says her family is now offering a reward for the return of their trailer, and the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

"It is a horrible feeling when you lay down at night not being able to sleep for fearing that someone is going to steal everything you have everything that you have worked and saved for," says Patrick.

Anyone with information about the trailer is asked to contact Kentucky State Police Post 9 at 606-433-7711.
