The Jenny Wiley Theatre wants to take you back to simpler times this summer.
The first performance of "The Marvelous Wonderettes" was held June 15th, 2012 in Prestonsburg.
The days of malt shops and sockhops may be long gone, but the Jenny Wiley Theater is resurrecting them with the "Marvelous Wonderettes"
It’s a musical about four girls who get the opportunity to sing at their prom in the 1950's.
When they are invited back in the 1960s ten years later for their class reunion, they are also the entertainment, so we kind of get to catch up and see what's happened in their lives since then.
But even if you didn't live in that era, the show may still appeal to you.
Now entering its 48th season, the Jenny Wiley Theatre was established in 1965 and, in this season from now until August will put on over 50 shows.
For some, the theatre itself is the main attraction.
Other shows at the theatre this summer will be "Grease" and "Honk".
