PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Halloween came a few weeks early for some kids in Prestonsburg as they spent the day dressed in costumes and learning 'spooky' science at the East Kentucky Science Center.
Science Center Director Steven Russo says, "Every year we have this Halloween event open to the public. It is an all-day event and we have different things going on...different planetarium shows, laser shows."
Kids who come to the event get to participate in various science experients all with a halloween theme. Experiments include making bloody hand prints and learning how to make and hold 'boo bubbles'. They also take part in different electricity demonstrations.
Russo says, "They come here, they have a great time but then they get home and realize they've learned a bunch of stuff...it makes learning fun, that is what it is."
A different way for kids to celebrate Halloween, than the typical trick or treating.
Laura Hall, is a first timer at the science center Halloween party and says, "It is like out of the ordinary because you get to do something different thats not like what you do every year, so it is new and fun!"
An out of the ordinary event that science center workers say they enjoy doing. "For us it is fun also, it doesn't even seem like work. We have fun, the kids have fun, the adults have fun. so this is just a really great resource for the community especially here in Eastern Kentucky."
