PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - A steady stream of last minute shoppers filled Court Street in Prestonsburg on Monday. Shoppers were either out to finish up their Christmas shopping or they were just getting started like Matt Tackett, "I've got my Christmas dinner here in a few hours so I've got some work to do."

Store owners stayed busy this entire holiday shopping season so Christmas Eve was no exception. Daffodils owner Vickie Horne says, "the last minute gift shopping is crazy right now." Lad 'N Lassie owner Cheryl Leslie says they have seen a, "steady stream, everyone doing their last minute shopping."

Store owners believe the good business is due to, " a lot of people have stayed home and done their shopping locally," explains Leslie.

That is something store owners are thankful for this holiday season. Ritchie's Hallmark owner Linda Ritchie gets emotional when she talks about it, "I'm so grateful, we've been here 29 years and Court Street has come alive again."

Since store owners have had such a great holiday shopping season, they say they are happy to be open on Christmas Eve to help those loyal customers finish up their Christmas Lists. Little Rascals owner Vicki Pack explains, "We are glad that we're able to do this for our friends and neighbors."

Those friends and neighbors are happy to support their community, especially on Christmas Eve. As last minute shopper Tackett says, "It is good to be down here, we are awfully proud of our town."
