PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - UPDATE 8/15/13

For weeks friends have looked for Floyd County attorney, Clyde Johnson, knowing very little details about his disappearance. Friends do know he took a recently purchased camper, cash, clothing, his xbox, and his dog.

Johnson's childhood friend, John DeRossett says, "We have traveled around to campsites and looked, we have heard things, but nothing really substantial that we know."

However, now they have some information to go on. Information reported by a neighbor who watched Johnson load his belongings into his vehicle the day he disappeared, June 24th.

Ned Pillersdorf says, "There was a mysterious pick up truck hovering around Clyde as he was loading up his vehicle, the neighbor wrote down that license plate number and it came back as not belonging to that vehicle."

A vehicle with the same description was reported to be hovering around johnson three hours later at the lot where he was picking up his camper.

Whether or not the vehicle is connected to Johnson's disappearance, his friends say it gives them a new possible cause as to what may have happened to their friend.

DeRossett says, "Maybe Clyde isn't just gone on a trip, maybe there is some foul play suspected. That was a red flag for me. Something caught the neighbors attention enough to write down that license plate number. Your neighbors know you, and Clyde's felt he was in a threatening situation."

They say they believe there are answers out there.

"You wish the best, you wish here in a couple days he wouldd come home and everything would be alright and there would be some resolution for his wife, his family, and his friends," says DeRossett.

Friends hope the mystery pick up truck may hold those answers.

The vehicle is described as a tan dual cab Chevrolet pick up truck with Kentucky plate number 652 KZC.

The vehicle reportedly has a CAT or 'Caterpillar' plate on the front.

State police had were not available to release any new details.

Anyone with information is asked to contact KSP Post 9 in Pikeville.

ORIGINAL STORY 7/5/13

Kentucky State Police are searching for Martin City attorney and current president of the Floyd County Bar Association, Clyde Johnson, after friends and family reported him missing for two weeks.

Friends describe Johnson as a well known and well respected attorney. When no one heard from him they say they knew something was not right and contacted Kentucky State Police.

Ned Pillersdorf says, "We are more than devestated by this bizarre, unexplained disappearance for 2 weeks. He has never had history of bizarre or unusual behavior.

Friends say Johnson was last heard from two weeks ago when he told his secretary he was going on a weekend fishing trip and would return on Monday.

Pillersdorf says there has been several rumors surrounding Johnson's disappearance, "Many unsubstantiated, absolutely false rumors that he had stolen money from city of Martin or Blackcat Bingo....we have investigated, those are all false."

However, it is stress from events in Johnson's personal life that Pillersdorf says could be a factor, "He has had some problems due to the sudden death of his mother and experienced some financial problems."

Friends say it seems he may have just gone off to clear his head because of items he took including a camper, cash, and clothing.

Pillersdorf says, "The whole situation is just unexplainable we don't think he has tried to harm himself due to the fact he took his dog."

He also took his xbox, which they say could help officials locate him. Pillersdorf explains, "We understand he has a Netflix account, so we have asked KSP to do an electronic trace."

Anyone with information about where Johnson may be is asked to contact Kentucky State Police in Pikeville.
