A man is behind bars after he was allegedly driving under the influence in a state owned vehicle.

Glenn Couch was arrested in Floyd County Wednesday morning on U.S. 23 in Floyd County.

Police say they got several complaints about a white SUV driving slowly, hindering traffic.

Police say Glenn Couch was driving and the SUV belongs to the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

As they were searching for the car, police say it started veering off the road, almost hitting an officer.

Couch was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.

"He actually told me he was going to teach an animal class, for lack of a better word, to a bunch of grade school kids," said Sergeant Brian Walker with the Prestonsburg Police Department.

Police also say after he was arrested, he started cooperating and told them he snorted a muscle relaxer at a gas station.

"A lot of people think the only impaired drivers you are going to see on a road are in a regular car, you don't expect to see it in a state official vehicle," said Sergeant Walker.

Police say they were glad he was arrested before something worse happened.

We contacted the Department for Fish and Wildlife, but our calls were not returned.

Couch also declined our request for an interview.
