Questcare EMS is still under investigation by the Kentucky Board of EMS after they recently had to take 13 ambulances off the roads for various violations.

Tuesday officials with KBEMS were in Floyd County to inspect more than half of Questcare's ambulances.

"It's just a bad day. That's all I can say. I mean you're going to have problems with trucks," said Questcare Vice President Terry Dossett.

It seems that Questcare has had plenty of those problems.

Recently the Kentucky Board of EMS made Questcare take 13 of its ambulances off the roads after receiving complaints that some of them did not have air conditioning.

"Apparently we've had a little bit of bad PR, so they're just here to go through everything," said Dossett.

Officials inspected 15 ambulances. They say they found one air conditioning issue. The rest of their findings they cannot release at this time. They will be sending them to their Immediate Temporary Suspension panel for review.

"We basically go down and make sure everything's in working order: supplies, equipment, paperwork, training for employees, things like that," said KBEMS Executive Director Mike Poynter.

There have also been questions lately about whether Questcare could be shut down potentially leaving some Eastern Kentuckians without an ambulance service.

"We're not here to shut anybody down. We're here as a support tool for the services and basically help them in any way we can, but they have to meet the minimum requirements and regulations to operate," said Poynter.

Questcare officials say they are following procedures to make sure they get back on track and stay there.

"We are going to be fine. the main thing if there's an issue they need to let us know. We want to take care of our patients, make sure they have what they need, and make sure our crews have what they need," said Dossett.

KBEMS officials say they are still investigating.

Officials with the Immediate Temporary Suspension panel will be reviewing the inspection findings later this week.
