FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators say a child was badly injured after being hit by a car in Frankfort Monday night.
Frankfort Police tell WKYT this is the second such incident that has happened along Wilkinson Boulevard in about a weeks time.
Driving through the area, you can see there's a lot going on...a lot of construction, and a lot of construction equipment.
Making the same rounds up and down Wilkinson Boulevard dozens of times in a day are truck drivers.
In the short time that we were along side the road where police say a 12-year old girl got hit trying to cross on foot Monday night, several of them stopped to ask me how she was doing.
One driver described the scene for us, and said the girl was thrown a long distance from the point of impact, and that she was actually lifted out of her shoes.
Police say the girl was initially taken to a local hospital to be treated for multiple injuries, though there is no word on her current condition.
A Frankfort Police lieutenant said there isn't any language in the police report that was filed Monday night that indicates the driver in this latest case will be charged.
They say she was airlifted to UK Hospital with serious injuries, and is in the ICU.
The child's name has not been released.
