FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office recently moved into the vacant health department building, ever since, workers have questioned the conditions.
The new sheriff's office is located at 231 East Main in Frankfort. The building is four times the size of the old one.
"It's a great improvement over what we had. Especially the space. That's helped tremendously," said Sheriff Pat Melton.
What's inside has employees like Administrative Clerk Ann Bohannon concerned. Bugs are running on ceilings and across desks, biting people.
"You constantly feel like your scratching," said Bohannon.
She says the building also had an unusual odor, that's currently masked by air fresheners.
In an effort to save tax payer money, inmates were used to clean the building and road department employees moved in the furniture and equipment.
Sheriff's employees aren't satisfied, and say there's still work to do.
"There are just some areas that could have been taken care of, prior to the furniture being moved in and us being moved in," said Bohannon.
As for getting an exterminator, that's up the Judge-Executive. Ted Collins couldn't be reached to tell us when that could happen.
