The search is over for a woman police say left her 4-year-old son asleep all alone in their Frankfort apartment.
Frankfort Police arrested 33-year-old Gina Simpson Friday afternoon. She's now charged with abandonment of a minor.
Simpson is now being booked into the Franklin County jail.
Frankfort Police say a neighbor initially called them late Thursday night, concerned about the welfare of the woman and her child living in an apartment on Carey Avenue.
The caller even indicated concerns the mother could be suicidal.
When police arrived, they saw the boy through a window, asleep and alone, in a back bedroom.
The woman who called police had a key, and let police inside the apartment.
Social Services came to get the boy overnight. He's now in the care of relatives.
Police say he is ok.
Police say as they approached the apartment to make the welfare check, Simpson jumped out a back window and hid in some nearby woods.
Police say Simpson later got a ride to a home on Big Eddie Road. That's where police arrested her Friday afternoon.
Simpson is now in jail, being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
