The “Singing Bridge,” a local landmark in downtown Frankfort, will be closed beginning Monday, March 12, for repairs and repainting.
The closure of the bridge, both to vehicles and pedestrians, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Monday. The bridge will remain closed until late summer. Crews will paint the steel truss and perform some minor repairs to the steel grate on the bridge deck.
During the closure, motorists should follow the signed detour via U.S. 60, the Capital Avenue Bridge and West Main Street.
The company doing the work will be providing shuttle service to pedestrians needing special assistance in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. To receive this free service, pedestrians should call Frankfort Transit at 502-875-8565. Signs will be posted at each end of the bridge advertising this service.
