Grief counselors are on hand at a central Kentucky high school Monday, following a student's death over the weekend.
17-year-old Trista Shoemaker died Saturday afternoon, after investigators say an SUV ran a red light along U.S. 127 in Franklin County and hit her car.
Shoemaker was a member of the volleyball team at Western Hills High School, where she attended.
"It's been difficult," Western Hills Principal Rita Rector said. "She's a junior so she's made a lot of connections with students and faculty."
The Franklin County Sheriff says no charges have been filed because of the crash, but the case is still under investigation.
