RICHMOND, KY – “ St. Mark Catholic Church announced the 7:30 p.m. show, “An Evening Among Friends … A Very Special Christmas with Harry Connick, Jr.,” has sold out and an afternoon show at 4:00 p.m. has been added. Tickets to the show are FREE – with the donation of two unwrapped children’s toys.
“The response for tickets has been overwhelming,” Father Jim Sichko, Pastor said. “We sold out the 7:30 p.m. show with Harry Connick, Jr., in a matter of weeks. So many people kept calling – we had to figure out something to do to facilitate their requests and find a way to give back to the Central Kentucky community.”
“We approached Mr. Connick about adding a show at 4:00 p.m. and he said, ‘Yes.’ – and we decided, if people would donate two toys, they’d receive one ticket to the show – which is how the idea of ‘Toys for Tickets’ came about,” Father Jim explained.
“Toys for Tickets” will be Saturday, November 26, starting at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mark Catholic Church, 608 West Main Street, in Richmond. Tickets are limited to one per person for their donation of two unwrapped toys. “The toys will be distributed to children’s hospitals in the Central Kentucky area and to the Toys for Tots drive. We hope, in the spirit of the season, that people will choose to donate more than two toys to brighten up Christmas for children in the hospital,” he added. “We also encourage any other civic and charitable organizations to join us.”
“There are only 600 tickets available for the 4:00 p.m. show, and we hope to see a lot of people at St. Mark Catholic Church the Saturday after Thanksgiving,” Father Jim said. “Sharing the joys of music and giving is the best way to celebrate the holidays.”
