Days after a deadly crash in Scott County, the marks still remain on a section of U.S. 62. It was there Kentucky State Police say Ashby "Scott" Sanderson began to inject himself with a syringe, then crossed the center line and struck another driver head-on. Police say drugs were a suspected contributing factor for why this crash happened.

Neighbors of Sanderson quickly learned of the deadly crash.

"It's horrible news. Shocking," says Jackie Inman, Sanderson's neighbor.

Jackie Inman says neighbors of Sanderson's at their Leewood Drive apartment complex knew him well for positive reasons.

"He'd help you out and help carry your groceries in. Helped you fix a car. He did a bunch of maintenance work. Changed light bulbs in the apartment buildings. Very helpful," says Jackie Inman.

However, the day after his death, police say someone burglarized his apartment.

"Apparently the perpetrators made entry through a front window and once inside they stole assorted electronic equipment, TVs, DVD players, game consoles and assorted tools," says Major Fred Deaton with Frankfort Police.

Neighbors say they're not sure whose responsible, but they have a guess it was someone who knew Sanderson well.

"I'm sure a friend of his knew what happened and knew what he had because who else would do it? I wouldn't call them a friend. That's horrible," says Jackie Inman.

Neighbors are hoping it's a crime that gets solved soon.

As for the driver of the vehicle that police say Sanderson hit head-on, that person was not hurt.
