A part of Interstate 64 closed in Franklin County because of a serious crash has now reopened.
Officials tell 27 NEWSFIRST one person had to be airlifted to the hospital after the accident, which happened just before around 6:30 a.m. Monday.
The crash happened in the eastbound lanes near the Shelby County line.
Police believe the driver of a car was traveling at a high rate of speed, when he fell asleep and veered into the path of a semi. The car then went off of the road and flipped several times.
We're told the victim has some broken bones and a head injuries, but his injuries are non-life threatening. He was flown to UK Hospital.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
