FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - State lawmakers will observe President's Day Monday, taking the day off after a busy week in Frankfort.

House members last week passed bills that would increase the state's dropout age to 18, strengthen Kentucky's human trafficking laws and allow foreign-born students to stay in high school until age 23.

The Senate also was busy. It filed legislation that would allow overseas military members to email their ballots back home to the commonwealth. And Kentucky's farmers could grow industrial hemp under a bill the Senate approved.

Both chambers will resume the legislative session on Tuesday afternoon.
