Two family members are crediting a roommate with saving them from criminals.
A man and his cousin were inside their Travis Circle home in Frankfort on Wednesday morning when two armed men broke in. The victims say it was a woman, living downstairs, who scared off the robbers.
"They stormed the door. They were on me before I barely got out of bed," said homeowner, Harold Bernard.
"I got on my feet and by the time I was on my feet, they had me on the ground, on the floor. They wanted to hold my head down so I couldn't see the other."
Bernard says he could feel a gun being held against his head.
"They roughed me up a little bit. I'm OK. They said something about killing me. My cousin, by that time, they opened the door to his bedroom."
Bernard say his cousin was also held at gunpoint. The suspects demanded money and guns. The suspects were not aware that a third person was in the home.
"I heard a racket from upstairs, didn't know what it was. Very unnormal. So, I called upstairs," Kathy Lester.
Lester lives downstairs.
"I did not think they knew I was here. According to Harold and Coleman, which is his cousin, they call me the live saver and I'm far from that."
"If Kathy wouldn't have called, God knows what would have happened. They'd have completed their ransack and most likely would have killed us," said Bernard.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has obtained an arrest warrant for Terrin "Shaka" Reynolds from Frankfort. He is originally from Ohio and may possibly be wanted from Ohio as well. Detectives from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office have identified the second subject as Dante Johnson. Johnson is also originally from Ohio.
