Bondurant Middle School was placed on lockdown at 10:17am Friday after reports of a student with a gun. The sheriff's office says the lockdown was lifted at 11:05 am. Deputies arrested a student.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputy received information that a student had a handgun in his waist band at school. The school was immediately placed on lockdown by the school resource deputy and Franklin County sheriff's deputies.
Deputies say a pellet gun was recovered that is similar in appearance to a .45 caliber handgun. They say a hunting knife was also confiscated from the student.
Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton stated “the lockdown was strictly a precautionary measure.” He says students were safe and the lockdown went just as practiced.
