Details from the fatal accident on Highway 127 in Franklin County Friday night were still coming in to family Mikey Ward when we spoke to his uncle, Jesse Ward.
"I'm sorry for the people that got hurt with him and I'm gonna miss Mikey a whole lot myself. I hope the other people are fine and recover fine," said Ward.
Through a preliminary investigation of the scene, police say Mikey Ward's Mitsubishi Eclipse crossed the center line and hit a car driven by Kara Kistner head on.
Ward says the result of what unfolded here Friday night will likely take a long time to set in.
"I haven't really accepted it yet but it's like if somebody in your family died all of the sudden. It's like bam, you don't know, you don't realize until you wake up and say he's gone."
Police say alcohol could have played a role in the accident.
"We're waiting on toxicology reports and the will determine. But based on the investigation so far, we do believe that's gonna be a factor in this crash," said Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton.
Ward says his nephew had just got his drivers license back this past week. He did not say why he didn't have it before.
