State senators to take sexual harassment training

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - State senators will be required to undergo sexual harassment training before the start of next year's legislative session.

Senate President Robert Stivers said Friday that the training will be held in conjunction with ethics training, which is already required. Legislative staffers serving in the Senate will also have to take the training.

Stivers said he believes the training is in the best interest of the Senate.

Sexual harassment arose as an issue in the Legislature earlier this year when legislative staffers lodged complaints against former state Rep. John Arnold of Sturgis.

Arnold resigned shortly afterward.

A House investigative committee is looking into the allegations and, if confirmed, could recommend a reprimand or fine.
