A former high school basketball star entered a guilty plea to several charges Monday morning in Scott County.
Bud Mackey pleaded guilty to an amended charge of theft by unlawful taking, along with charges of escape, and being a persistent offender.
Prosecutors dropped an assault charge against him.
Mackey was originally charged with assault and robbery following an incident last year.
He'll be sentenced May 2. The Georgetown News Graphic reports Mackey could receive up to ten and a half years in prison.
Mackey was once a standout basketball player at Scott County High School.
His legal problems began in 2007, when he was arrested for bringing cocaine onto school property.
