Family of murder victim having trouble raising money for reward

They want to offer a reward for information in a high profile murder case, but the family of the victim says raising the money has been difficult.

Retired Scott County school bus driver Sue Jones was found dead in her home back in February.

So far, police have not made any arrests in the case.

Jones' family wants to offer $5,000 to help find the people responsible for her murder, but getting the money together has proved challenging.

Gail Jones, Sue Jones' daughter, says she has tried many ways to raise money for a reward, trying to entice anyone with information in the case to come forward.

First, she established a fund at a local Whitaker Bank, to which anyone can donate.

More recently, she and other family members put together a yard sale at her mother's home.

Gail Jones says everyone has been asking for something to remember Jones by, and this was a way for people to get a momento and raise money at the same time.

Jones says she plans to have another yard sale over the July 4 weekend.

The family hopes to raise $5,000 for a reward, but so far, they've only raised $1,200.

The family says they're looking for a venue to hold a banquet in Jones' honor.

The money raised at that event would also go towards the reward.
