Kentucky State Police have now identified the two people killed in a violent head-on crash Wednesday night in Scott County.
Police say 46-year-old Jeffrey Bailey crossed the center line of US 25 shortly after 6:30pm. Bailey's pickup struck another truck head-on. The driver of that pickup, 32-year-old Brian Way of Lexington, was dead at the scene. His passenger, 29-year-old Anna Hamilton died at Georgetown Hospital. She is also from Lexington. Officials say neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Bailey was taken to UK Hospital with injuries police call non-life threatening; he was released Thursday. State Police say toxicology results are pending and the collision remains under investigation.
NewsFirst uncovered documents today that show Bailey has been arrested a number of times in both Fayette County and Scott County for a variety of charges, ranging from being a fugitive in Louisiana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating on a suspended license.
He has been charged at least four times in Scott County for operating on a suspended license. On June 21st, Jeff Bailey was in a crash in Georgetown and cited just this week for operating on a suspended license. He is expected to appear in court in late July for that charge. There have been no charges at this time in the fatal crash that happened Wednesday.
