On March 23rd & 24th, 2012 Georgetown College will host the 1st state-wide conference on Human Trafficking. This conference is open to the public and the purpose of the conference is to connect people in the state to not only the issue of human trafficking locally and globally but also to other people across the state and country who are working with this issue. We aim to spread knowledge of the injustice of human trafficking and engage and unite Kentuckians with local and national organizations to fight against human trafficking across the globe.

The conference will be FREE to all college students. There will be several speakers from the state and national organizations who will present at the conference as well as several conference events including a preconference concert on March 22nd with the Peter Mayer Group (Peter Mayer is the lead guitarist for the Jimmy Buffett Band); a lecture by Theresa Flores followed by a Fair Trade Market on Friday evening, March 23rd; and a 5K Walk/Run Benefit; a community-wide children’s play event; and a film screening of the film Playground with Libby Spears the film director on Saturday, March 24th.
